Live Rio de Janeiro like a local 🌺🌴🥥

We have prepared this small guidebook for you so that you can take it with you while in Rio and experience the marvellous city (cidade maravilhosa) like a real local (carioca). Enjoy!

Going out of Casa Carioca in the early morning you may enjoy an amazing sunrise near the Copacabana Fort (right in front of the Fairmont Hotel), floating on a paddle board that you can rent on the beach or just drinking your coffee on the beach. You may also enjoy running, skating or cycling along the kilometres long Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon beaches or practice yoga, gymnastics or do your standard fitness routine right on the beach 🪷🧘✨🏋🏽🔥💪🏼🎧🌊⋆🐚

👉 Hint: each Sunday the main avenue is closed for cars so there is even more space for any activity you may wish to explore! Don't forget to ask about your photo from the people sitting with photo cameras on the streets, it might be an amazing shot! 🚴🏃📸💯

If it's a beach day you have plenty of beaches to choose from right next to you 🏖️

Be it Ipanema (for higher waves), Arpoador (for having fun or maybe start surfing), Leblon for a relaxed chill or beach volley / football or Copacabana and Leme for the lively Rio beach life. Oh, let's not forget the hidden little gem called the Devil's beach (Praia do Diabo) just between Copacabana and Arpoador, where you may catch a local performance, find an open-air gym or jump on the waves and have fun! 😎  🍹 ☀️  🏄

👉 Hint: If you want a calm secluded beach, Prainha might be perfect - it's a short ride (30-40 minutes) from Copacabana 🏝️

If it's an exploration day let's go to Copacabana Fort for a walk, breakfast/ brunch or some precious views of the whole Copacabana beach. Then right to Botafogo and the "sweet" Sugar Loaf (Pão de Açucar). Tired? Let's chill a bit in the beautiful Park (Parque Lage) having lunch or just a drink. Don't forget to plan your visit to the restaurant there and reserve a table in advance as the line could be big. Ask for chorizo beef - it's great! Time for a relaxing walk - Botanical Garden, worth a visit 🌻🌳🥾

You want to see Rio from above? Corcovado, of course, or Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor)  🏞🌄🌅

👉 Hint: You may combine a visit to the bohemian Santa Teresa neighbourhood with a visit to Christ the Redeemer and use the train that will take you up from Santa Teresa (maybe a full day). If you move by car or have the chance, make sure to stop by the observation deck called "Mirante Dona Marta" on the way to Corcovado 🥘🧁🍹☕️🚋🗝🎸

A very Rio experience cannot pass by without Lapa - the iconic neighbourhood in Rio downtown. Make sure to write down your name on the map painted wall in the beginning of the Selaron Steps (Escadaria Selarón) 🎩🎶 🕺🌃🍺🗺️ 📍

Do you prefer hiking? Rio has a lot to offer on that front too 🙂 Hit the trek up the double rock you see from Ipanema beach, its name is "Morro Dois Irmãos". On your way you would pass through a friendly favela and would have the chance to rent a moto ride by a local for your way up to the trek start. Don't forget water and sunscreen along with repellent, and of course your camera, the views are breathtaking! 🏕🧗🚵🏘️

Want a day outside of Rio? Maybe something cooler 🙂 Let's go to Petropolis - a cozy town within a mountain, great views on the way and a pleasant walk in town. If you travel with kids definitely a nice place to walk and get them play in the grounds 🏔️🍃🌲

A picnic day? Head to the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon - a beautiful lagoon with a lot of green space around, nested between some of the best neighbourhoods in Rio. enjoy the sun 🪷.‧₊˚ 🦢༉‧₊˚. 🦆

👉 Hint: if it's a Sunday and you like markets choose between the Gloria market (food, clothes and other stuff) and the hippie market in Ipanema (artisanal goods) 🧺🥖🧀🍍👚 👖 🧥 🛍️ 👗 🎀 🧣 ✨ 🩳 👟

Where to take your kids so that they can use spare energy and sleep well? 🙂 Try Jonosake in Itaguaí, the park Garota de Ipanema (really close) or the small, but inviting park right next to the metro station Nossa Senhora da Paz in Ipanema 🧸🪁🧃🦄🎠

A cultural walk/ museum day - start at the Museum of Tomorrow (Museo do Amanhã) or CCBB, visit an impressive library called Gabinete Real and finish visiting the Rio Cathedral - all right and near the Centre of the city. 🖼🏛📷🎨🖼️*ੈ✩‧₊˚

Time for a stunning sunset with a local cocktail (Caipirinha) - Arpoador rock/ beach it is! Just a short walk from your home in Rio! Enjoy, it's one of a kind 🌅🍹💖

Later on choose between a great local party at any of the street bars so popular among us as "boteco", a romantic walk on the Atlantic avenue (a calçada)/ night dive or a classy rooftop experience in either Rio downtown or Copacabana🍻🍸 🪩 🍹🎶🪇 ✨ᥫ᭡

Don't ever leave Rio without trying our authentic açaí, coxinha, tapioca, pão de queijo, água de coco, local beer and of course caipirinha ⚽🇧🇷✨

Always welcome home in Rio ♥️
